Hyundai Tucson 2.0 CRDi (2004-2010)
A simple and inexpensive crossover with a reliable diesel engine. However, the first-generation 2.0 CRDi has significant problems with the fuel system (pump, injectors), turbocharger, and cylinder head (cracks). The automatic transmission fails after 200,000 km. Repair costs can exceed the value of the used car.
SsangYong Kyron 2.0 Xdi / 2.7 Xdi (2005-2014)
A mid-size framed SUV has an attractive price and a Mercedes diesel engine. However, the vehicle has weak electronics, a finicky fuel system, issues with transmissions (especially automatics), raw all-wheel drive, and constant wiring problems. Spare parts are also not always available.
Kia Sportage II 2.0 Diesel (2004–2010)
The most problematic aspect of the crossover is the diesel engine 2.0 CRDi, which suffers from rapid turbocharger wear, fuel equipment issues, and oil pump failures. The all-wheel drive also works inconsistently, and the body is poorly protected against corrosion.
Used Korean crossovers and SUVs are an attractive option due to their reliability and affordable price, as they often offer rich equipment at lower cost compared to European or Japanese counterparts. However, not all models can be considered a successful choice.
