White Diamond: Drivers Explained the Significance of the New Road Sign.

A new sign has appeared on the roads of Europe, astounding even experienced drivers. It is a diamond-shaped indicator pointing to the shared use of a lane. This sign has already caused a stir in France, where it began to be tested back in 2020.
This was reported by Avtotema.
This lane is intended exclusively for taxis, public transport, and cars with at least two people, including the driver. Interestingly, electric vehicles are also permitted to use this lane, even if only one person is behind the wheel. This policy is designed to support environmentally friendly transport.
The French authorities take compliance with the rules for using this lane very seriously. Violators face a fine of 135 euros. This measure is aimed at ensuring the effectiveness of the innovation and encouraging drivers to follow it.
The peculiarity of this sign is that it often appears on electronic boards and can be activated depending on the traffic situation. For example, on the A7 motorway between Lyon and Saint-Etienne, the sign operates during peak hours - in the morning from 7:00 to 9:30 and in the evening after the end of the workday, when traffic is especially heavy.
The aim of introducing such a lane is to reduce the load on the roads, especially during overtaking and exits from the city. In addition, it is another step in combating environmental pollution, as the new rules support the use of public transport, environmentally friendly cars, or carpooling.
Currently, this new sign is most commonly seen in the Rhône-Alpes region, but the experiment is considered successful. Many European countries are studying the French experience and considering the possibility of introducing similar signs on their roads.
Earlier, drivers were also explained the significance of a new sign with a car and dots on a white background.
