The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, appealed to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the case of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Ombudsman.
It became known that on April 11 this year, three servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were carrying out official combat tasks at one of the positions in the Volnovakha district. They were captured by Russian soldiers, but one of the unarmed Ukrainian soldiers was shot by the invaders.Lubinets notes that such actions are a violation of the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war and the norms of international humanitarian law, and also constitute a serious international crime. The Ombudsman has already sent letters to the UN and ICRC regarding this matter.
The actions of the international community and the response must be here and now! The crimes of the Russians must be documented, and those responsible held accountable!
