The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, appealed to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the case of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. It became known that on April 11 this year, three servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were carrying out official combat tasks at one of the positions in the Volnovakha district. They were captured by Russian soldiers, but one of the unarmed Ukrainian soldiers was shot by the invaders.

Lubinets notes that such actions are a violation of the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war and the norms of international humanitarian law, and also constitute a serious international crime. The Ombudsman has already sent letters to the UN and ICRC regarding this matter.

The actions of the international community and the response must be here and now! The crimes of the Russians must be documented, and those responsible held accountable! It is necessary to put pressure on the Russian Federation to stop the arbitrary policy of executions of Ukrainian prisoners!

In addition, Lubinets urges citizens who have witnessed or have information about violations of the rights of citizens of Ukraine and the executions of Ukrainian servicemen to immediately report this to the 'hotline' of the Ombudsman of Ukraine at 0800 50 17 20 and to law enforcement agencies.
