New reality: what exchange rate of the dollar and euro Ukrainians should prepare for in 2025.

Economist Olexiy Plotnikov analyzed the situation in Ukraine's currency market and shared what the dollar and euro exchange rates could be in 2025. According to him, the dollar may exceed the mark of 42 hryvnias, and the national currency will lose value. However, the forecast for the dollar's value by the end of 2025 is not yet precisely determined.
'There are forecasts from international institutions, there are forecasts from the National Bank that the dollar will most likely exceed the figure of 42 UAH, and the national currency will devalue, that is, it will be depreciating. It is hard to say how much the dollar will cost by the end of 2025, but it will definitely be more than 42 UAH,' noted Plotnikov.
Regarding the euro, the situation is more complicated as the rate depends on the ratio of euro to dollar. The expert mentioned that if the USA limits cooperation with Europe, the value of the euro may decrease. However, in Ukraine, calculations are made in dollars, so no radical changes in the exchange rate are expected.
'If there are certain restrictions from the USA regarding Europe, then the euro is unlikely to strengthen. The currency will fall in price against the dollar. In Ukraine, all calculations are made through the American currency, so no radical changes are to be expected unless the NBU decides to tie the hryvnia to the euro instead of the dollar. But this is unlikely,' explained the expert.
In general, experts predict an increase in the dollar rate and a decrease in the euro rate in the coming year. It is recommended to protect savings by exchanging hryvnias for US dollars.
It is important to note that the hryvnia may lose value compared to the dollar, which could affect the euro rate. It is forecasted that the euro will change by 3.57% over the year.
PrivatBank has decided to facilitate currency exchange by launching a 24/7 service in ATMs.
