Russia provides recruited individuals for attacks on Ukraine
According to Financial Times, Russia has recruited hundreds of residents of Yemen to participate in military actions against Ukraine, indicating an escalation of cooperation between the Kremlin and the Houthis.
Yemenis reported that Russian companies associated with the Houthis promised them well-paid jobs and the opportunity to obtain Russian citizenship. However, upon arrival, they were forced to join the Russian army and sent to the front to fight against Ukraine.
Journalists note that the presence of Yemeni mercenaries indicates the involvement of foreign fighters in the war, within which Russia is trying to avoid full mobilization. Additionally, among the mercenaries are also citizens of Nepal, India, and about 12,000 military personnel from North Korea fighting in Donbas.
Financial Times emphasizes that the recruitment of residents of Yemen is just another piece of evidence of the growing cooperation between Russia and Iran and its allies in the Middle East.
According to American diplomats, judging by the Kremlin's cooperation with the Houthis, which was previously impossible without a full-fledged invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, Russia is ready to initiate military actions in the Middle East as well.
It is worth noting that earlier, around 200 women from Africa were working at a Russian drone manufacturing plant. The plant is located in the special economic zone 'Alabuga' in Tatarstan.
It has also been reported that Russia is recruiting citizens from at least 21 countries for the war against Ukraine, including students and migrants.
