Sikorski announced the sending of European troops to Ukraine.

The Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski expressed the opinion at the Munich Security Conference 2025 that for a possible peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it is necessary to send European troops to Ukraine. He emphasized that this step would be necessary as part of a potential peace agreement. 'So sooner or later we will have to intervene,' Sikorski stated.

The diplomat also expressed his opinion regarding the phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, calling it erroneous and emphasizing the negative impact of such contact on the morale of Ukraine.

Sikorski also emphasized the importance of involving European countries in the negotiation process. He noted that President Trump expressed the view that European troops need to be involved in the agreement and promised to consult with them.

The issue of deploying a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine has been actively discussed in recent months. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that a large army is needed to effectively deter Russian aggression. He also expressed the opinion that the peacekeeping contingent could consist solely of Ukrainian troops, focusing on the issue of armament.
