USA to ramp up security measures to prevent another Capitol riot.

The federal government is increasing protection levels during the joint session of Congress where the counting of state electors' votes takes place. The session will be held on January 6, 2025.
Security measures that are typically applied during the president's inauguration and political conventions will be available during regular electoral meetings.
Law enforcement resources will be deployed to protect members of Congress during the recounting of electoral votes.
However, Congress must ensure sufficient funding for the Secret Service to conduct national security events despite the complexities of discussing the national budget.
Previously, Michael Sparks, who became the first rioter in the Capitol during the attack by Trump supporters, was sentenced to over four years in prison.
On August 27, new charges were brought against Donald Trump for his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. These charges were restricted following a Supreme Court decision.
In January 2021, Trump supporters attempted to storm the Capitol demanding the annulment of the election results in which Joe Biden won. As a result of these incidents, five people died.
