The training ship of the Mexican Navy collided with the Brooklyn Bridge while departing from New York. This information was reported by 'Glaсkom' citing CNN.

A video that has also circulated online shows the ship failing to account for the height of the bridge and hitting its mast.

As a result of the collision, one of the masts broke and fell onto the deck, damaging two others. More than 270 people were on board, the media reported. Three people are in critical condition, and ten have sustained serious injuries.

Representatives of the Mexican Navy confirmed the incident but did not provide detailed information regarding the victims. Local police reported that all victims are receiving the necessary assistance.

Preparation for the regatta as part of the training voyage

The barque 'Cuauhtémoc', built in 1982, was in New York as part of a training voyage in preparation for a regatta scheduled for next year to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
