The leopard injured a zoo employee in Odesa
An incident occurred at the Odesa zoo, during which a leopard attacked a worker who was in the enclosure while cleaning. To save the injured person, another worker rushed to help, but he himself fell into a trap. The intervention of the police was needed to prevent the tragedy, as they were forced to use weapons to neutralize the leopard. The employee who was injured in the attack was immediately hospitalized with multiple injuries. Authorities and police are investigating this incident to establish all the circumstances.

The Government of Ukraine has announced the launch of the Unified State Register of Pets. This step is aimed at combating the spread of dangerous diseases and harmonizing animal welfare legislation with the standards of the European Union.
Increase in cases of animal cruelty
Statistics show an increase in the number of criminal proceedings regarding animal cruelty in Ukraine. In 2024, 178 cases have already been registered, exceeding last year's figures. In total, since 2015, 1,599 criminal proceedings have been initiated. The introduction of new fines in 2018 led to an increase in cases of animal cruelty. In 2021, penalties were strengthened, but due to the war, there was no significant increase in proceedings and sentences.
