Onion prices in Ukraine changed dramatically: what is the reason.

Onion prices in Ukraine have dropped sharply due to the mass harvesting of onions in all farms across the country. This has led to an increase in supply in the market, but demand remains low, which caused prices to fall.
"Therefore, the percentage of losses and the share of non-standard products, which producers seek to sell first, have significantly increased," market participants reported.
Farmers sell onions at a price of 7 to 13 hryvnias per kilogram, which is approximately 12-22 cents per kilogram in dollar equivalent. Compared to the previous working week, prices have fallen by about 17%.
However, analysts predict that the market situation will change in September. Then, onion reserves will significantly decrease, leading to an increase in prices for this product.
Currently, the price of onions in Ukraine is 12% lower than in mid-August 2023.
