The government has adopted a resolution proposed by the Ministry of Defense that will improve the financing mechanisms for military personnel. In particular, a mechanism will be established whereby military personnel will be allowed to independently decide who will receive their salary in the event of captivity. This was stated by the Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov.'From now on, each military personnel can independently decide who will receive their salary in the event of captivity. To do this, it is enough to draw up a personal order, which is confirmed by the commander or a notary. The original document will be stored in the military's personal file,' Umierov noted. The changes apply to payments to military personnel who are in captivity, hostages, interned in neutral countries, or declared missing. The resolution also provides for improved access to information from state registers for Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers to simplify the identification of individuals entitled to such payments.'We continue to work to ensure that Ukraine's defenders have confidence: the state is always on their side - both in peacetime and in wartime,' Umierov emphasized. To address the mobilization issue, it is necessary to change state policy, which will ensure a greater influx of people to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers, according to politician, public activist, and aerial reconnaissance officer Igor Lutsenko in an interview with 'Glavkom'. According to him, changes in the operation of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers are unnecessary because they will not yield any results. One of the defenders of Snake Island, Ukrainian soldier Vladislav Zadorin, spent nearly two years in Russian captivity. He was captured on the first day of the full-scale aggression, and the most difficult conditions of detention, according to him, were in Kursk, where he was transferred on December 31, 2022.AnalysisThe government of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that will facilitate the financing of military personnel by establishing a mechanism that allows them to independently decide who will receive their salary in the event of captivity. This is an important step in improving the living conditions and ensuring the payment of wages to Ukraine's defenders. The identification of individuals entitled to payments for captivity will also be simplified. However, it is imperative to address the mobilization issue and the need for changes in state policy, which will ensure a greater influx of people to recruitment and support centers. It is vital to do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine's defenders feel supported and confident that the state will always be on their side.
