Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today, let's remember Serhiy Yurku.

On May 27, 2022, near the settlement of Bilohirka in the Berislav district of the Kherson region, Serhiy Yurku was killed during an artillery shelling. This was reported by the Rozdilnenska territorial community. 

Serhiy Deomidovych Yurku, call sign Tarlan, was born on February 13, 1980, in the village of Kalantayivka in the Rozdilna district of the Odesa region. He graduated from Kalantayivka Secondary School. From 1995 to 1997, he studied at the Rozdilna vocational and technical school No. 29, specializing as a milling machine operator. In 1997, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He worked as a construction worker at an Odesa construction company.

Since 2022, sailor Serhiy Yurku fought as part of the 35th Marine Brigade.

Honoring the memory of Serhiy Yurku

Almost three years after his relatives awaited news of Serhiy, he returned home 'on a shield'. The sailor, a sniper of the assault engineering platoon of the 36th Marine Brigade, was killed on May 27, 2022, during an artillery shelling near the settlement of Bilohirka in the Berislav district of the Kherson region, defending the borders of the state.

He was buried on May 1, 2025, in a local cemetery in Kalantayivka.
