Netanyahu Ready for Escalation in the Middle East — FT.

In recent weeks, Netanyahu's government has been using its strong points — notably, the spy agency Mossad is spying and killing opposition leaders. Netanyahu is demonstrating his priorities and strategy: escalating tensions in the region, strengthening Israel's security and political leadership in Jerusalem, helping Trump return to the White House. Financial Times editor John Sawers believes that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh reflects Netanyahu and his strategy. Netanyahu has refused a ceasefire deal in exchange for the release of hostages with Hamas, as it does not align with his strategy.
Netanyahu is moving to a strategy of "containment" of Gaza to provoke clashes with Hezbollah. Hezbollah poses a greater threat to Israel with its arsenal and militias. Netanyahu knows that the US will have to intervene to support Israel in case of open war with Iran or Hezbollah. The Biden administration is trying to prevent a clash in Lebanon, which contradicts Netanyahu's goals.
