Russia conducts large-scale disinformation campaign in the US amid presidential elections – AP.

The Kremlin has launched a disinformation campaign regarding the presidential race in the US, targeting Americans, according to a report by the Associated Press citing US intelligence data.
Intelligence officials note that Russia, Iran, and China are using the internet to spread false and provocative information about American democracy to undermine trust in the elections.
"The American public should know that the content they read online could be foreign propaganda, even if it appears to come from compatriots or from the United States," said a representative of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence of the USA.
According to intelligence, Russia is the biggest threat, but there are also signs that Iran and China have stepped up their efforts. Russian groups are hiring PR firms to create disinformation on their behalf.
The US has announced sanctions against two Russian firms responsible for creating fake websites and social media networks to spread disinformation. The goal of such disinformation is to get Americans to unwittingly spread Russian propaganda.
The Senate Intelligence Committee noted that the US could be more vulnerable to foreign disinformation in 2024 than in 2022. They also warn that Russian propaganda supports Trump, while Iran is targeting candidates who may escalate tensions with it.
China is demonstrating greater caution but may use disinformation to influence congressional races where candidates make sharp statements about China.
