Successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region – Forbes
Forbes analysts assessed the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. In particular, four days after Ukraine's invasion of the Kursk region, the number of Ukrainian brigades in the invasion zone and around it increased to five. These are four army mechanized brigades and one independent air assault brigade.
It is noted that these brigades could control up to 10,000 military personnel and 600 pieces of armored vehicles, while additional artillery, air defense, drone, and reconnaissance units play a supporting role.
“In four days, five brigades partially or completely occupied about 400 square miles of the Kursk region and captured dozens of Russian soldiers. Although it is still possible that the brigades do not intend to stay in Russia, there are no signs yet that they are slowing down their attacks”
Estonian military and analyst Artur Rehi expressed hope that Ukraine has a well-prepared plan and that this operation will turn into something more than just a PR victory.
At least three brigades are participating in the operation: two mechanized and one air assault. A video from the 116th mechanized brigade appeared, showing the brigade's tanks and APCs rolling towards Kursk.
Five different brigades using various equipment are involved in the Kursk corps. There is also a wide range of artillery from different countries. The main threat to the AFU operation is the risk of isolating their units on the front.
It is noted that the Russians are unlikely to be able to isolate the Ukrainians if they cannot get through the Ukrainian artillery to attack the supply lines of the main forces. Delays only contribute to Ukraine's victory as new units approach Kursk. The United States also reported strikes on Russia.
