Bild reported what problem hinders German intelligence officers from working.
Employees of the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany (BND) complain about the heat in the offices. The premises lack an air conditioning system. Bild reports this.
According to the publication, air conditioners do not work in the offices of the BND headquarters in Berlin. Fans cannot cope with the high temperature. One of the employees said, 'Sometimes the temperature reaches 30-33 degrees Celsius. It's hard to concentrate on work.'
The cause of the unhealthy heat in the building is a special metal facade, clad in more than 20 thousand tons of steel. Abnormal heat hinders the work of about 4 thousand employees.
The BND headquarters is one of the largest real estate objects in Germany, with dimensions comparable to the area of 14 football fields. The building complex cost almost 1.1 billion euros. The project initially included air conditioners, but the idea was rejected due to the 2010 building regulations.
BND director Martin Heinemann noted that safety in the building is guaranteed. The owner of the building is the Federal Agency for Real Estate Management. Agency representative Christiane Wöring stated that the design did not include air conditioning.
Also, in Frankfurt am Main, three citizens from Armenia, Ukraine, and Russia were detained, suspected of espionage.
